Emily McDowell

My name is Emily McDowell. I am a recent graduate of Bob Jones High School and an upcoming freshman at the University of North Alabama in the fall. I have been involved in music since I was in preschool and school choirs for a total of 7 years.

Before moving to Alabama, I was involved in community and school theatre in clouding roles in Seussical, Annie, The Music Man, Oliver, Aladdin, and a lead in Alice in Wonderland. Right before leaving Michigan I was given the tremendous opportunity to tour the state singing with Las Vegas King Award winning Elvis Impersonator, Jake Slator.

Upon my arrival to Madison, AL a world of opportunity was shown to me through the Bob Jones choir and theatre program. After performing as an ensemble member in the musical Godspell my first year at the high school, I auditioned into the competition level theatre--Advanced Production.  I held roles in one-acts and full length plays such as The Last Illusion, The Ash Girl, Lies About High School, The Standard Deviation, The Pinckly Museum of Bridal Oddities,The Axeman's Requiem, and You Can't Take it With You. The highlight of my high school theater career was my leading role in the musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights as Nina Rosario. As well as being given the honor to play these characters, I was also able to compete with them and was given multiple awards for my performances.

Through these many wonderful experiences I have grown to find my passion for performance, and plan to continue to participating in it within the Vocal Performance Department at the University of North Alabama this coming fall.
